Australia Travel Guide

I moved to Australia in 2020 and have been exploring the country ever since. I love the outdoor lifestyle and have been on many camping and 4WD trips to places far off the beaten track. There’s an adventure around every corner!

Sydney (New South Wales) was my home base for over a year before I moved to the Gold Coast (Queensland).

Best time to visit Australia

There is no bad time to visit Australia, but the activities you choose can be affected by the weather. Summer (December to February) is a great time to enjoy the beaches, but if you’re heading north of the country to the Northern Territory or Tropical North Queensland, it can be extremely hot and humid.

The overall best time to travel to Australia is October and November or March and May. The weather is perfect – not too hot or cold.

What to expect

  • Capital city: Canberra
  • Language: English
  • Currency: Australian Dollar (AUD)
  • Safety: Australia is a very safe country

How to travel around Australia

Australia is a very large country and air travel is the best way to get between cities. Alternatively, you can opt for a very long bus ride (which I don’t recommend). Once at your destination, you can use the efficient public transport to get around or hire a rental car.

How many days to spend in Australia

You won’t be able to see the whole of Australia in one trip. You’ll need at least a year for this!

I recommend visiting one or two states during your time here and spending a minimum of 3 weeks in the country.
